Unit 24 Assignment 1: Task 1

Find six videos, that illustrates each reason for sound recording, and analyse why the example is relevant these should be uploaded to your Prezi. Try to find a different example to the one used as an example, however if you are struggling you may use some of the same examples.

You must find videos that illustrate the following these videos must be accompanied by detailed analysis

• To compress and summarise a sound recording to fit a specific space.

The song This Is War by 30 Seconds to Mars was compressed to fit the opening of Sword Art Online Abridged. The chorus was taken out and put on the opening. The chorus was used because the lyrics match the narrative so it gives the audience an insight to what this is about. It is fast paced which matches the pace of the opening, if you had a slow paced song on a fast paced opening it would look bad. It was also used because the music is upbeat which brings in the audiences attention and it makes them want to watch the show. After watching the episodes the opening music becomes a part of the show and when you get to the finale with the final big fight the opening kicks in which gives the audience chills. (Video 3 - 19:10)

• To eliminate flawed, repetitive, superfluous, uninteresting, irrelevant material from a recorded clip

• To enable recorded speech to remain legal.

• To ensure any indecent or inappropriate language is edited out

• To change the chronological or logical order of a series of sounds or speech.

• To create impact by adding sound effects and/or music between pieces of recorded speech.

The music in the clip is used to create audience response. It sets the mood and makes the audience more emotional. The music at the beginning of the clip with the family makes it more heart warming and feel home like. When Cisco vibes the end of the world the music stops and you hear destruction and screams that signify terror and danger that would make the audience feel uneasy. After the vibe the music picks up and starts to escalate to when Zoom comes in and kidnaps Henry (Barry's dad) This builds tension and the audience is aware that something is going to happen to Henry. When Henry is killed you can hear a flat line in the background this assures the audience that Henry is in fact dead. The sound of the lightning signifies how fast The Flash and Zoom are going.
